—noun ( pl. florilegia |-ˈliːdʒɪə| or florilegiums )
a collection of literary extracts; an anthology.
In modern day context, it still means a compilation/compendium of excerpts from other writing. Or, “as a metaphor for networked knowledge and combinatorial creativity,” as described by Brain Pickings Editor Maria Popova in a Creative Mornings talk in NYC. Like, you know, a fancy way of describing Tumblr.
It’s my current favourite word, I’m putting it on my Tumblr description. Still thinking if I might even use it as my Tumblr’s name. By the way, have you been following my other florilegium?
